JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A grand opening celebration was held Tuesday for the opening of another Johnstown business. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for Bridge and Rising Studio and Lofts, located on Clinton Street. Owner Serena Bridges says the building was completely empty when she bought it several months ago. Now, three businesses occupy the space. Penn State sorority loses recognition due to hazing

UNIVERSITY PARK - A Penn State sorority has lost its recognition for at least three years after the university conducted an investigation into hazing. The Alpha Chi Omega sorority had its recognition revoked by its national chapter Wednesday. "Upon learning of the highly disturbing allegations of hazing, Alpha Chi Omega deployed a team of professional staff members and volunteers to the campus to investigate further," read a release from officials with the Alpha Chi Omega national office. 150 animals rescued from Washington, Westmoreland County properties

(WJAC) — Authorities say 150 animals were rescued from two residential properties in in Washington and Westmoreland counties in what humane society officials are calling an alleged large-scale neglect situation. The Washington Area Humane Society, with the assistance of the Humane Society of the United States, seized 150 cats, kittens, dogs and chickens. He was officially inducted into the Silver Circle Society by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award recognizes significant contributions made by selected individuals who have been in television news for 25 years or more. Altoona VA receives national award for 'Best Patient Experience'

ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — The James E. van Zandt VA medical center received an award for "Best Patient Experience" from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The facility scored the highest in the nation for patient experience, trust and best place to work, with a top overall combined experience score. Logan Valley Mall has been sold

ALTOONA – The Logan Valley Mall is about to get a new owner. Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust announced in a news that, "A purchase and sale agreement has been executed with a significant non-refundable deposit and closing anticipated during the third quarter.” PREIT did not reveal the buyer or the purchase price for the mall. Bedford County Historical Society hosts traveling WWII exhibit

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) -- The Heinz History Center's traveling World War II exhibit is on display inside the Bedford County Historical Society, the furthest east the exhibit will go. “We’ve had quite a few from the Heinz History Center,” said Gillian Leach, the historical society’s executive director. “Right now, they are offering their World War II, 'We Can Do It' exhibit. It’s our turn to have it.” The exhibit highlights the important role Western Pennsylvania played in industrial efforts during the war and the heroics of men like Johnstown native Michael Strank, who helped raise the flag on Iwo Jima.
